Green Advantage Certification Training

GreenSPACE is holding the only publicly available two-day Green Advantage® Certification Training in the DC Area for the remainder of the summer. With an increased need for certified green building professionals this is the way to ensure that you and the people you work with are prepared to take advantage of growing market demand. In this two-day course master trainer David Johnston teaches participants how to approach construction, design and development from a green building mindset and prepares professionals to take the Green Advantage Certification exam.
Integrated Design Process Training Series

This training is the first part of a series of sessions that will focus on the integrated design process (IDP) and give the building professional community in the DC metro region a strong skill set to incorporate IDP into their projects. Integrated design is necessary in order to achieve high performance buildings while avoiding or minimizing incremental costs. The series is for all stakeholders involved in the building process, including its design, construction, operation and occupancy. Participants will come away with the collaborative and strategic skills required to develop and realize clearly defined and challenging functional, environmental and economic goals and objectives.
Green & Energy Retrofit Training

This class will train professionals how to understand the home the way a doctor understands the body. Conduction, convection and radiation heat transfer mechanisms, as related to specific areas of the home, are explored in detail. These principles are the basis of understanding how homes work and how to treat the problems of comfort, mold, indoor air quality and energy efficiency. The course is geared toward anyone involved in residential construction and applies to both new construction and remodeling.
Weatherization Training

Weatherization training is designed to meet the education needs of industry professionals working to retrofit existing building stock. It focuses on the “low hanging fruit” of energy conservation measures; sealing, caulking, weather stripping, hot water pipe insulation and other fundamental retrofit measures. These techniques are necessary to weatherize over 90% of the housing stock in the DC metro area. This training is geared toward relatively new entries into the building industry and those wanting to expand their weatherization skills to meet upcoming industry demands.
Air Sealing Training Clinic

In this half-day training clinic, participants will learn to apply air sealing techniques utilizing construction detail mock-ups. Under the watchful eye of expert trainers, they will experience hands-on how to utilize tools and materials to practice and gain skills.
HVAC, Ductwork and Ventilation Training Clinic

In this half-day training clinic, participants learn best practices for HVAC Systems, Ductwork and Ventilation Systems. Building materials, tools, and equipment are prepared and used in clinic settings that mimic jobsite conditions so attendees can acquire real-world training.
